The New London Outing Club (OC) is very excited about the agreement with the KRSD to lease the “new gym”, the outside playing field and certain other related office and storage areas at the KRMS in New London .

While giving the KRSD full priority to schedule and use the facilities during the school day and for special events, unused times after school, evenings, weekends and during vacation periods will be available to the OC.

This agreement will be a large plus for both parties, as well as the KRES-NL, and our community:

  • The KRSD will continue ownership and general maintenance of the property and the OC will pay a pro rata monthly fee for the use of the designated facilities.
  • The KRES-NL will have, for the first time, their very own gym, outside playing area, and other facilities in the old middle school for their Springfield, New London and Wilmot students when KRMS relocates next year.
  • The OC will have an indoor facility to offer new programs for broader participation, and additional playing field areas to expand outdoor programs.
  • The OC now has a full-time executive director to plan, organize and manage its current programs and the expansion of additional activities.

As part of the lease agreement, the New London Outing Club has

completed, at it's own expense, the following work to address long standing issues:

Water Drainage Problem

  • Excavated, cleared, replaced old clogged drains and drain pipes, and added an additional drain, all set in crushed stone and covered with landscape fabric along the gym’s exterior from the front entrance, along the driveway, and across the rear of the building.
  • Re-graded the driveway to take water away from the building and re-applied new asphalt

In order to accomplish the above work in a timely manner (during summer vacation and before Winter), the OC secured a $200,000 line of credit from a local bank to pay for the work.

Currently, a fundraising campaign is underway to raise money to pay off the loan amount resulting from this work.
