This class is designed for artists of all levels, to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and to gain practice and inspiration from nature and each other with the use of watercolor, pencil, pen, or other form of art. Each class will be an outdoor session with emphasis on local landscapes and familiar New London stomping grounds. Possible sites will include Bucklin Beach, Hilltop fields, Town Bandstand, Burpee Hill, Tracy Library, Ellies Café and Goose Pond. Instructor will work with students to improve perspective drawing facility, choice of color and value. Class instruction will be geared to location. Minimum: 4 particpants.
What to Bring:
A suggested list of materials obtained at Back Room Art Supply or bring your own:
small portable block of 140lb cold press watercolor paper (arches is high end, montvale also good)
small portable sketch book, with or without water media quality paper*
"waterfast" black pens (micron), pencils, erasers
watercolor brushes *
backing board/clipboard or easel*
towels
water bottle
small palette*
sponge
canvas portable camping chair (if desired)
insect repellent
selection of tube paint color* (windsor newton is high end-cotman is low end):
ultramarine blue, cerilean blue, alizarin crimson, light cadmium red, aureolin yellow, cadmium yellow, sepia, burnt sienna, cobalt blue, burnt umber, chinese white
*Items that are changeable and individual, test a little!
