What's in the Future for the NLOC:
In the year 2000, the Outing Club Board of Directors held a "retreat" to discuss and plan the next 10 years of our organization. Among the concensus of needs for the future were additional playing field space and an indoor facility in order to have adequate facilities for ongoing programs and to have the ability to expand activities, and to offer these on a year round basis.
With the recent (September 2007) lease arrangement with the KRSD, The Outing Club now has the opportunity to meet this goal set at the retreat. We are especially pleased that we will be able to do this at a very low cost. This is very important to our organization - a 501 (c)(3) charitable, non-profit that relies solely on funding its activities from membership and program fees, donations and special fundraising events. We are looking forward to offering additional programs and activities in the Middle School "New" gym in New London once the students move to their new school being built in N. Sutton.
The Outing Club will have sole access to the gym, stage and music room areas, a small gym office, the teachers lounge room, and some storage areas. Also, the playing field, baseball diamond and small practice field behind home plate will be available. The Outing Club will operate these facilities after school hours, weekends and holiday periods. The KRES-New London will use the facilities during the school day and for their special eventswhen scheduled.
At The Outing Clubs expense, recent work on these facilities have been completed, including repairing the drainage problem around the exterior of the MS building, replacing the gym floor with a new hardwood maple floor and adding volleyball and badminton court lines in addition to the basketball lines, and fully restoring the playing fields behind the school.
Our greater Kearsarge community can now look forward to many new recreational, sports, social and educational programs with these facilities. Plans are in the works to offer a full spectrum of gym appropriate activities (basketball, volleyball, badminton, games, martial arts, tumbling, dances, auctions, to name a few, for all ages. The stage and music room areas will provide opportunities for movie nights, lectures and presentations, plays, concerts, etc. And, of course, the playing field areas will allow us expansion room for our existing baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer programs as well as more space to offer additional sport's instructional and fun programs.
And we're always interested in what interests you. If you have some ideas for additional recreational programs or improvements please contact us at : ocdirector@tds.net
